How would you recommend I clean and deodorize a mattress thats been in a closed up house for a while?

It's really not dirty, but I have a matress that was in another house of mine that I had not been in, in a while. I brought it up to my new apt...but it has this "closed in" scent. How do I get rid of that?

Answers:
You may want to set it out in the yard and air it out, don't think this is a crazy suggestion but go to the pet area of Walmart and buy pet stain and odor spray, it is called OUT, comes in a spray bottle, works with enzymes, this will cut the odor and the musty smell. Good Luck

Sunbathe It !!!
Leave it in the sun for a day. If you don't have enough sun in your part of the world now, run the hot air from the blower side of your vacuum cleaner on it for a while.
First, wipe baking soda on it, leave on a while, then vacuum it off. Then spray it with white vinegar, and let dry. Should do the trick. Good luck
you might try fabreez. Clean fresh scent! But really, once it's been in an in closed space, the smell won't really go away. Even if you spray it a dozen times, it will still have a bit of a smell.

We brought a mattress back from my grandmother's house earlier this year and it had been in her attic space for about 6 years. It had a bit of a smell to it. We've sprayed it down several times and though it now smells pretty clean, it still, every once in a while, whiffs out a bit of a not so clean smell.

Good luck in your quest!
