Tape might work or even a vacuum cleaner.
As long as it is something that can be wet...
Put the velcro piece under running warm-hot water (hot enough you can stand your hands to be under it, without burning of course) and take your thumb or index finger and just roll the lint off, I'd put a large piece of aluminum foil or plastic wrap in the sink to catch the lint falling off. Just takes a little time and patience.
the best lint remover is a piece of cellotape! Curl it over your fingers, and tape it to itself to that it is a double-sided tape, and press to the lint lightly. I use this for linty clothes as well...
