how do i wash a down comforter at home?
Answers:
You can wash them at home. Wash them with shoes and when you dry it, either line dry it and keep fluffing out the hard wet spots so the feathers can dry, or dry it in the dry with the shoes and keep fluffing out the hard spots. The feathers all cling together when wet, you have to pull them apart through the fabric so they can dry and re-fluff out.

I wash my down comforter in an extra large washer on a gentle cycle. When I take it out I give it a good shake out. I put the comforter in the drier with either my clean tennis shoes or tennis balls, (the shoes work best) which helps fluff and move around the eiderdown. I have done this for years and it works great. If the fabric is a silky delicate type, I use Woolite sparingly or zero.

throw it in the washing machine.....i work at a cleaners and that's all that we do.....but first check the tag to see if it says dry clean only or if its washable....
YOU DON'T! I did & ruined one....Either take it to the cleaners or keep it in a cover that you can take off & wash like I do... So much easier.. When I wash the cover, I hang the comforter outside over the clothesline on a sunny day to FRESHEN it.....
