clean it! or pay some one to celan it!
scrub it with hydrogen peroxide
Tell management! They need to clean that mess
Well.....
My landlady always used to douse the bathtub down with meths and then set fire to it.

Ermmm.....I'm not sure I'd actually want to recommend this to anybody who could sue however.
complain to the landlord and have the landlord clean before moving in
bleach
Clean it or rent another apartment!
lime away
Bleach! Also Dawn dish detergent is really good on soap scum. Use a toilet scrub brush on the tub... or one of those back scrubbers... easier on the tub.
it's probably soap scum. use a razor blade scraper to get the worst of it off. you can buy them at wal mart in the hard ware section for a few dollars. they're usually next to the exacto knives. then get a stiff scrub brush and use a harsh cleaner like ajax or comet and scrub the rest of it off.
Use rags soaked in vinegar - just the plain stuff on the really tough stains and mildew and baking soda scrubbing with a soft nylon scouring pad on the soap scum and dirt buildup in the bottom and sides of the tub. It's a mild abrasive.
If it bothers you or you're going to use it, clean it. Otherwise if it does'nt bother your friend, don't worry about it.
If this is "gross" with just plain uncleanliness then plug the tub and soak with straight bleach overnight. Then purchase and use Tilelex to clean the mess out. Works well!
If you are referring to "gross" because of nicks and/or enamel being chipped there are kits at Menard's to re coat the surface of bathtubs and even change the colors of tubs.
We had the same problem when we moved into this house. We tried straight bleach, vinegar mixes, pine-sol, etc... but believe it or not, Scrubbing Bubbles helped it the best. It's a great product!
The very best thing I have found to clean tubs and showers is a product called "The Works". It's inexpensive and really works! My mother in laws shower had years of build up and soap scum on it. She had even tried using a steam cleaner on it and had no results. I bought 6 bottles of this product and just poured it all over the shower starting from the top and working my way down. I then let it set for about 30 minutes. Next I took a sponge and wiped it clean. No elbow grease!! The only downside is the strong odor it puts off. I recommend a very well venilated area. If there are no windows in the bathroom, use a fan to circulate the air out. I found this product at a "Dollar General" store.
Mold, use clorax kitchen and bath and it will come off after 15 mins. If it is fiberglass, magic erasers are great, as well on porcelin tubs. A good degreaser such as simple green, full strength. SOS pads, starting using soft pressure, when you get close to the bottom of a porcelin tub, go easy or it will scratch it.
The landlord didn't clean it? Use Ka-Boom! and a scrub brush. You may need to let it soak for a while. When I moved into my new home, I had stains I couldn't get out of the tub and used toilet bowl cleaner on them and they disappeared.
If the tub is porcelein and not fiberglass, use ZUD - not many people know about it. You should be able to find it at local hardware stores. For fiberglass I use Soft Scrub with bleach.
The Works...I love that stuff it cleans very good, and it only costs a dollar per bottle.
after all else fails [hopefully not] try nasty toxic oven cleaner. vent well & test small area first. good luck.
