Don't use Murphy's oil soap! The best solution for cleaning hardwood floors is a 3 parts water to 1 part vinegar mixture.
Murphy's is okay maybe once a year but what it will do long term is create a waxy type of coating that acts as an adhesive to dirt and dust.

I bought @ wal-mart a hard wood floor cleaner.. you sweep or vacuum your floor then spray this cleaner on and mop with a damp mop.. it's clean, shiny and smells orangy.. it is in a green bottle with a spray nozzle..
Murphy's Oil Soap is GREAT on hardwood floors. I used this all the time when I had an apartment with hardwood floors. Just make sure to use the proper ratio of water to soap. If you use too much soap, you'll wind up with a residue. The right ratio leaves the floor looking all nice and shiny and clean! :)
Murphy's Oil works wonders. It is best to run "Grab it" dustclothes over the floor beforehand, though.
Pledge makes a wood cleaner that think works great! Just dont use the regular pledge like my husband.our floors are soooo slippery!
Murphy's oil soap. That is what I use. For quick jobs I picked up a wet-swifter that carries a wood cleaner now and it works1
Water and vinegar... 3/1 or so. + Hoover Floormate... a must have if you have a lot of hardwood/tile floors!
Either Murphy's or vinegar + water will work great if you buy a Shmop. Do a google search for shmop, and buy the head, the handle, the pad and a supply of terry cloth covers. It's short for Shine-Mop, and it is what the Amish use on their high-gloss wood floors to keep them shining.
I have an Amish cleaning lady who recommended this for me (I have 2500 square feet of brand new hardwood floor). I can clean all of it in about 15 minutes, and have it looking marvelous!
ditto on the Murphy's
murphys oil soap. it is mild and will remove old wax and gives you shine. top it off with furnisher polish to keep it from getting do dusty
