cleaning my hardwood floor?
Answers:
Lipton Tea. I'm not kidding. Brew enough Lipton Tea to make a bucketful and use this to wash your hardwood floors. It gives the wood a beautiful glow and doesn't leave residue the way soaps do.

The laquer has probaly worn off. There is nothing to keep liquids from setting in the wood. You have to buy a rug and cover the stains. Then plan on moving or ask lanlord to resand and restain and finish.

Try using Murphy Soap Oil Liquid made for mopping wood floors. They look so nice when finished.
Mix 2 tablespoons Murphy's Oil Soap + 1 tablespoon ammonia in a gallon of water, then mop or sponge mop. No need to rinse.
Been there, done that. I also used Murphy's Oil Soap, but here's the thing: I scrubbed the floor on my hands & knees (just once - I'm not crazy!). It looked awesome when it was done, then picking up spills right away and mopping with Murphy's again every week or so helped too. Good luck.
If you are planning to live in this place for a significant amount of time, it may be worth it to buy a hardwood floor cleaning machine. It's like a carpet cleaner but for hardwood floors. We moved in to a house that is all hardwood floors and the previous owners had a cat who liked to "mark his territory". Our cat who has never once gone out of her litterbox went crazy! We purchased a Hoover hardwood floor cleaner and it worked miracles!
