Can I launder pillows in the washing machine? I have feather pillows and foam ones. Or is drycleaning better?

Good quality foam pillows will wash up just fine - and do use the clean tennis shoe in the dryer method for fluffing them. One other suggestion - wash two standard sized pillows in your washer at a time, it helps balance the load. Lower quality foam pillows will clump up and become misshapen no matter what you do - better to just replace those. Feather pillows need to go to the dry cleaner.

I have laundered pillows in the washer and they clump. Don't do it if they are good quality pillows, get them dry cleaned.
I've always washed my pillows in my washing machine. For the feather pillows, make sure the load is evenly distributed or it'll thump like mad! Put a clean tennis shoe in the dryer to beat the fluff back into it. You won't need to do the tennis shoe thing for foam pillows. Make sure they're really dry. May take a few cycles. It's always worked for me.
I have washed pillows in the washer and it's not a good idea. the feather pillow's feathers got EVERYWHERE, and it clumped and didn't dry right. The best bet is to dry clean or get new pillows!
i have washed the foam ones before. i have found that if i throw a old tennis shoe in the dryer with them that seems to help them from bunching up so much. even if they do some they will straighten out in time. not sure about the feather ones
i wash and dry all my pillows in cold water. and i do it once a week to keep them smelling good. a dry cleaner most likely will also wash them
