Breakages in the shop, even of food stuffs, are covered by the shop keeper insurance. If he was, some how, to sort you clean it up, what if you cut yourself on the chalice - you could sue the shop keeper!!
You are NOT libel for inadvertent breakages within a shop - they are covered by insurance. If a shop curator insists you pay, report to him to sod off and bid the Police.

Simply put, yes you are. The shopkeeper may choose to let you rotten, but you do have an condition. Oddly enough, you aren't indebted to do the cleaning.
Aside from that, you have a moral constraint - if it is your fault, consequently you should make amends.

I would enunciate no. Milk is v.cheap. If you appologised & cleaned it up leave it at that. Depends if the interrogate is theoretical or if it certainly happened & the store is hasseling the party.

Technically i think you are. But i work within a shop and many a time a customer have dropped something or split a can of beer, and ive never charged them for the damaged item, it happen and shop owners and compnies are usually pretty understanding and "lenient" if you submission to clean up the spilt product theyre smaller amount likely to charge you, nil worse than an arrogant customer lol.

I don't mull over you are. I dropped a bottle of Whisky in Tesco. They cleaned it up, within fact they wouldn't even agree to me help (under well & safety laws) as I be not covered by their insurance if I had cut myself within the process. I wasn't asked to pay for it. I feel awful and very anxious.
No!..In fact, most stores have rather you step away and consent to them get it, so you don't drop down and to make sure it's completely cleaned up--another customer or member of staff could slip/fall--LAWSUITS!
