it takes a long time to really get rid of the smell, hang it out in the sun if it is not a fitted carpet and use the hose on it, then when it is just about dry lay it down on the ground and use some lavender and backing soda on it make a paste and sped it on the carpet let it dry and use a hard brush to remove it. it worked for me ,i hope it works for you
sprinkle lots and lots of talcum powder on the carpet, then vacuum as usual.
Once mildew is in a carpet you will never get rid of it. The only thing to do is replace it.
I don't suggest you ignore this problem. Mold and mildew can cause lung infection and be life threatening.
Any carpet cleaners that say they can remove it and get rid of the smell, is just blowing smoke up....., well, you know. The will clean it and spray stuff on and it will work for a few days and then it will be back.
Smear your butt across your carpet
spray vinegar and water and let it stand for a day. Have a pro come in and do a deep cleaning
