Will my dryer start on fire if i don't clean out the lint filter?

Yes, but it's an easy way to make a quilt! j/j, but yes it will catch fire, and your clothes will take forever to dry anyway, plus you'll burn the heating element up and have to pay to replace it.
Clean it after every load of laundry, not once a year. It's really not that hard. You do more work turning the dial.

I doubt it will catch fire, although you may experience a loss in power and efficiency..
And quite possibly, the motor could be burned out...
Why not just take the time to clean the lint trap?
Hi Smokey Yes over time it could. It would be best to clean it atleast once a year. I sometimes go two years before cleaning mine. More than fire hazard, since most dont catch on fire, is energy lost. As it clogs up, it can take longer to dry clothes. Thats when I clean mine.

Yes. Clean the lint trap after every load, and once a year clean the exhaust duct out. Many fires are caused by dryers. It also runs more efficiently if you keep the lint trap clean.

Yes it could. Clean it every time. It also helps your clothes to dry faster so you don't use as much power. Also, if you use dryer sheets you need to scrub it once a year(like with a scrub brush, soap and water) because the dryer sheets can coat the screen(you can't see it, you have to run water over it to check it) and block air and also cause a fire.
Over time, yes it will. All the lint gets backed up and then over heats and gets in the motor. If it somehow does not catch fire, it will severly shorten the life of the appliance.
