How do you clean a flat top stove?

The grease just gets stuck on the surface, and I can't find a way to remove it. Can you help?

Answers:
The Mr. Clean magic eraser absolutely takes anything off of hard surfaces. It has been a God send in my house. Just wipe it after with a moist towel to get the residue from the eraser off

The appliance store should have given you a special cleaner for that. If not you can still buy it at Wal~marts.
If the flat top you refer to is Glass I use Soft Scrub Original, it is Made by DIAL. I have seen special glass top cleaners in Sears and Home Depot, but I don't often have time to make side trips for one thing, so Soft Scrub Original works for me.
Use a razor blade made for flat top stoves. It works great on my off white Whirlpool gold Flat top stove. Any grease or burnt food is noticeable because of the light color, and my stove looks brand new after two years beacause I use the scraping blade. You can use a regular razor blade like i do but be very careful not to nick or scratch the stove. Use it at an angle.
The stuff they give you works. I use Fantastik and a razor blade, then follow up with some more Fantastik and paper towels. My stove is now about eight years old and looks like new.
I use a razor blade inserted into a holder and slant it , I also used to use the expensive cream that was advised to me when I bought my stove, but I have heard from a friend that Vim works just as well , I have tried it and yes it works great, after I clean it with the Vim, I rinse it well and then I use Windex to really get it to shine.
I have a glass top stove. What I use for it is any brand oven cleaner. I spray it on and let sit for 10 minutes. Depending on the stains. If stains are burnt on and I don't have time for the oven cleaner to sit then I use a razor also. Wipe clean and shine with Windex.
I have one of those! 409 or windex works fine.
