I machine washed something that was dry clean only. Can it be fixed?
Answers:
Try ironing on low. It should be fine, actually. I often wash dry clean only things. the best, really, is to wash them in cold water by hand and hang to dry on a hanger in the shower, not wring them out. But silk does look like a wrinkly mess when washed, until you iron it. Make sure the iron is on the silk or polyester setting and has no snags on the bottom.

Many "dry clean only" fabrics can tolerate regular laundering occassionally. I wash my silk shirts all the time. Yes, they come out of the washer all wrinkly. But if you let it air dry then iron it, you should be fine.

omg Hun what have you gone and dun.... accidents do happen ... if i was you id soak it in cold water and see what its like in an hour or so.i sopose you could take it to the dry cleaners and see if they can do something... hope it turns out OK .... wasn't for a wedding this weekend i hope good luck
WHEN SOMETHING IS DRY CLEAN ONLY AND I TRY TO CUT THE COST BY DOING IT MYSELF, THIS METHOD USUALLY WORKS FOR ME. AFTER WASHING IN COOL WATER, LET DRY ALL THE WAY, THEN PUT IN DRYER FOR SHORT TIME, KEEP CHECKING ON IT. IT SHOULD BOUNCE BACK. NEXT TIME TRY SOME DRYELL, YOU CAN GET AT WALMART.
