How do I prevent yellowing stains on my white T-shirts?
Answers:
Unfortunately old perspiration stains are pretty much impossible to remove. And even though it seems odd, bleach is the worst thing you can use on perspiration stains.
Prevention and early treatment of the stain is key. And you have to start treating your shirts before there is actually a stain to see - the stuff from your perspiration that causes the stains are working right from the beginning. Not everyone has those ingredients in their perspiration that cause those stains. I don't - my daughter does.
These sites give excellent suggestions that will help you take care of the problem in the future.
Good luck with it!

bleach
Sometimes washing whites in bleach can cause a yellowing effect. It doesn't mean the shirts are dirty, it's just something that the fabric does naturally as part of a chemical reaction. Try cutting down the amount of bleach that you use. Also, wash all your undershirts in a separate load to make sure that other clothes aren't bleeding their color into them. Hope this helps.
well this really is only one way to save your shirts and thats by bleaching them, bleach pens could work really well because they will be directed at the right spots.
If you bleach white things, only bleach them in cold water. White clothes bleached in warm or hot water will turn yellow.
For your shirts, though, maybe it's your unique chemistry. I have a couple of shirts that do that, too. And then I have some that don't. Maybe it's the type of cotton.
Did you try bleach? Or, if you don't want that harsh of a chemical on you, you should try a brand called Melaleuca, which is a wellness company. They specialize in making all natural products for the home. The products are amazing. If you are interested, e-mail me at klcurrie77@yahoo.com

When they are new wash them in vinegar the first time. Wash them as needed but only bleach them about every 4 weeks. If you notice the yellow on them do not dry them. You will never get it out once it is dried. Dont let them sit in the dirty clothes hamper long.
Use deodorant with Tea Tree Oil. I like the Aveda brand. It is a bit pricy, but it has a pleasant smell and I don't get yellow marks.
Remove yellow stains by scrubbing with a mixture of equal parts lemon juice (or white vinegar) and water. OR Dampen the stain and then sprinkle some meat tenderizer on it. Then wash as usual.
I've found that OxyClean tends to work well. Also using regular detergent followed by bleach tends to work well.
Wash them using a bluing product, the best I ever found was called "LaFrance" (might be tough to find today) and hang them outdoors in the sunshine to dry. You'll be FLOORED at how white the garment is.
