Alternatives to carpet cleaner?

Was going to clean the carpets today, but am out of carpet cleaner, any other alternatives that i can use?

Answers:
Laundry soap, but very little. Test a corner to make sure it won't bleach your carpet out. You won't need a lot of suds, I would just use a couple tablespoons. Wanna come do mine when you're done? :-)

awesome cleaner can get at most dollar stores and works good on dity stained carpets.
How about the Clean, disinfecting, fresh smell of Pine-Sol.
Mean Green, buy it at a dollar store. I hate carpet. I have only wood flooring. Been there with all the hard work of carpeting.
