Help! My candle overflowed onto my runner. What is the best passageway to gt it up?
Answers: Wax Removal from Carpet
The last entity any of us need is wax dripped on the runner. Once it hardens, it seem impossible to remove. All is not lost though. For cleaning mat stains made by wax, first chip off as much of the surface wax as possible, using a dull run through or paint scraper. Once that is done, place a cloth or several layer of paper towels over the wax and apply a melt iron. Iron the towel for a few minutes and then erect. The wax should now be on the cloth instead of the hearth rug. Remove carpet stains not here behind by blotting next to a vinegar, or if it doesn't come up easily, fastener polish remover.Good Luck! =)
Take paper towels and place on wax. Use iron and the wax will verbs to the paper towels. Or, try an rime cube.
Damp the spot with wet and put some soap to loosen it. Depends actually what form of carpet you own. Im guessing Berber. good luck.
Using hot marine to melt the wax will be enough. Just use a towel/paper towels and take your time to fashion sure you remove all the wax.
FREEZE it. It become brittle and will flake off.
Place a plastic pod of ice on it for a time.
DO NOT RUB. DO NOT APPLY HEAT.
Any frozen bits can be removed beside a comb.
Scrape as much wax as you can out of the carpet beside something like a spoon. I've hear of people using rime to freeze the wax to make it more brittle. Not sure how economically that works though.
After that you need to grill the remaining wax to get it out -- steam cleaning will probably work best. You can try covering the spot beside newspaper and consequently heating beside an iron (on low) but most wax has die within it so your carpet will probably enjoy a stain. I don't know of any solvents that will dissolve the wax without ruining your mat so I'd recommend the "scrape and steam clean" method.
Not a fun project. Good luck.
What have worked for me is:
1) Chip as much as you can off.
2) To carry it out of the fibers I put a single paper towel over the candle droppings and use a tresses dryer (takes a little more to thaw the candle wax than would an iron, but is more convenient for me). Remove that paper towel and use more until you own removed the wax.
Try freezing with rime cubes and combing out as much as you can. Then using old rag, heat next to an iron. Move to a clean spot on the handkerchief frequently so that you are not remelting the wax you just removed. My husband spilled a candle two weeks ago on our NEW hearth rug. Fortunately, I no longer use parrifin was candles. I use a soy base candle that cleans up with hot, soapy river. If you are interested visit www.mycandlefarm.com.
