how do you clean travertine flooring?

Answers:
Soft mop with Endust. If it gets really dirty, large hardware stores carry special marble cleaner, but trust me the job is epic, so hire a specialty cleaner, which you can find by calling person's who install such flooring,].

Q: Can borax and ammonia be used to clean a travertine floor?

A: Borax by itself is best for a travertine floor, because it is milder. Use with a microfiber mop.
i don't know the depth of the project.......it could be as simple as a mop and light soapy water....BUT>>when the trav was placed..grouted and sealed....it should have been sealed....resealed every few years......then a regular vacuming....sweeping and or light wet light soapn andv rinse is all needed.........if it was not sealed....this stone is a real succer...that is it sucs up water draws it in at a high rate.....this is why the stones layed in their adhesive .. bond. ..They draw up the moisture in the glue/cement and take up the small micro particles that interlock...they can even continue drawing up moisture from the floor they were layed on.....NOW where is yr floorif it was not sealed....the light soapyb water used to clean it may have been drawn in...and every soapy film previously has discolord it....if you can remove all furniture......soak the whole floor with water...clean water...until the floor can absorb no more water...then wipe any excess......make a mix of oatmeal porridge..raw uncooked....2 lb bag to 5 gallons water...mix with paint or tile electric mixer....and cover floor.........as the porridge dries it will pull all the dirt grime sludge and gunk from yr floor....stay off the floor....let it dry well....vacome up dried material.......use a light damp sponge and check yr bright floor in a few places.....dont use a lot of water this is a pre-check....if you have some areas still clogged....saturate and re-porridge...vacume........no... the sealer....if yr floor is dry...it will reseal...with no problems as the stone dry is made to draw in the sealer....a second sealer coat is worth tryn as it will take up about a tenth of was used the first time.........congrats....yr floor will now take a polish....any stains will wipe up... vacumes will work.....and the natural tones and depth of the stone will sing in harmony with yr furniture...drapes and ....or what ever poodle...aye?
