How can I get old gum out of a carpet without ruining the carpet?
Answers:
If you choose goof off,be sure to wear a gas mask,as the smell is VERY invasive. It's a long process, but as others have said, freeze it,and get down on the carpet and pick it off with a pair of tweezers. It's doubtful that goo gone will work. That product is best on sticker glue, and substances that are on more solid surfaces like glass and plastic.

Goo Gone!
Goo Gone!
I heard something about making it very cold with like an icebube or something and then picking it off. have never tried this but it could work as you are meant to put clothing in the freezer if you get gum on that.
You could try spraying a liquid nitrogen wart remover on it to freeze it, then scrape it out of the carpet....
try ice in a plastic bag. Set the ice on-top of the gum until the gum hardens. It should peel off once it's really cold.
goof off will do it buy it at local dept store it works also goo gone works
Try turpentine.
Goo Gone, or Desolve It are what I would use
I used Goo Gone and also used ice cubes. Both will work.
Ice cubes, when the gum turns hard it should just pull away
Hi there, here is the remedy and i promise it will work, I done it myself. Go to www.melaleuca.com. They have a product called sol-u-mel. this is a safe non toxic solvent, it WILL get your gum out of the carpet. Take and pour some, just a little bit, undiluted onto the carpet and use a damp rag and rub it right out. It disolves the gum. I had to do this because at some point in time, my 3 year old had gotten ahold of a pack of my gum. Whem I went to move her furniture, under her bed were 3 wads of dried in gunks of bubble gum. Instead of freaking out, i did this. Good luck!!
