Answers: Everyone will say Dyson, however at hand are two I would recommend and have personal experience beside.
1.) Eureka SmartBoss 4800 series ($150)

2.) Bissell Healthy Home Vacuum ($250)
I own a housecleaning company and we merely replaced the Eureka with the exotic Bissell Healthy Home. We did a lot of research within determining what would replace the Eureka. We even returned a few due to lack of suction. Our #1 priority is suction and we enjoy high standards for our vacuums and these both come together those standards.
My overall advice is to travel to your local Target or any other department store that has vacuums and check them out contained by person. Pick them up, play beside the attachments and if you can, some department stores will even let you plug contained by the displays and try them. Also, a word of advice, don't plunge into the Dyson fad because they are far overrated (have plenty of personal experience beside them and can compare to other brands. Also, they did not rate that good beside Consumer Reports - they were right surrounded by the middle of the list). Avoid Oreck as well, they may be lightweight, but they in good health. . .suck (pardon my pun). Just because they have a giant price doesn't always show you will get what you reward for.

i enjoy a hoover bagless windtunnel and it's a really good vaccum i've have it for 5 years and it's still runs great my only complaint just about it is that i have to unoccupied it out outside because it's dusty when dumping it
I have the Dyson Animal, and it is great at picking up my cat's quill. It comes with a special attachment that get all the hackle off the sofa. Its a touch pricey, but I got mine at Bed, Bath, & Beyond beside one of their 20% off coupons that they transport in the correspondence.
I have 'The Boss Pro' from Eureka. It's small so I can stick it contained by the closet when I don't want to see it.
It's bagless. The dust cup fills up quick, but it's easy to not in use without have to take the unbroken thing apart.
It picks up the fuzz from my three cats with no problem.
It's lated longer than any vacuum I've have before (and in attendance were masses of them, including Hoover and Bissel), and I got it from Wal-Mart for, I believe, around $70 dollars.

I hold a friend who has cleaned houses for 17 years and she uses Kenmore canister vacuums. She say she wouldn't use any other. I also have one and love it.
We get a Hoover cheapie, $50 WITH a bag cuz the bagless get full so fast it took forever to vacuum. We hold a Sheltie and he is shedding BIG time. Like we had a basketball sized bubble of Bud fur the other day. The clean Hoover sucks REAL good.
I love my dyson. It even sucked up one of my daughter's socks and kept on going! It is flexible and has tools that help out you clean anywhere you call for to clean.
Buy the Dyson DC-14 "Animal" vacuum! My topical wife & I got one as a celebratory gift, and it is PHENOMENAL! Pet down is NO PROBLEM for this one. The only drawback is it come in purple and grey two-tone...UGLY! I hold actually vacuumed up AA battery accidentally, and the vacuum didn't even change pitch! They are somewhat pricey, but appear to be well worth the added cost for the employment they do.
KIRBY, expensive but worth every penny.
