Is it best to wash clothes in warm or cold water and the same for rinse cycle?

Answers:
Hot is best for undies and socks and towels
Warm for other light colors and cold for darks
you can wash everything in cold - but it may not come as clean as you'd like - or that's what mom always told me anyhow...

Other answers:
i think it is easier in cold so you dont have to sort
i think it is easier in cold so you dont have to sort
i think wash and rinse whites in warm water and cold with darker colors
both ways. but it depends what u are washing. if you are watching that is very expenses. wash it cold so it will not shrink.
Cold water for colors and hot/warm for whites.
Cold water wash and rinse is ideal for colors so that they don't bleed or shrink. If you are doing a load of pure whites, you are best setting the cycle to hot or warm and using bleach.

Hot water can shrink clothes tho, so be careful.

The only other time you'd want to use a warm wash/rinse is if your clothes are heavily soiled. In that case, make sure they are similarly colored clothes and do a warm wash with a warm or cold rinse.
Cold is better economically, water heater costs etc. But warm actually cleans the clothes better, but requires sorting and the cost of heating the water.
I wash almost all clothes in cold water except my husbands work clothes, I have to wash in hot. My whites ,I add baking soda to wash to keep whites really white and smells good too.
Colored Clothes you wash in cold water, whites you would wash in warm, don't use bleach because it does turn your whites a tint of beige and they won't be white any longer. There are other alternatives instead of using bleach to get stains out, or for white clothes is Oxy Clean. It doesn't stain or bleach and it will clean your whites and take soils out of anything.
