I have found that Oxyclean works best. Mix 1 tablespoon with 1 quart of very hot water, and scrub with a white washcloth. Be sure to test in an inconspicous spot first, and wear gloves. (Oxyclean has salt in it, and it can sting your hands.

Hi, before i got my carpet cleaner, i went to Kroger or(most grocery stores have them -be sure to call and ask to save a wasted trip)and rented a carpet cleaning machine with a bottle of their cleaner. It costs to rent but it is very reasonable and you have to pay for the cleaner.
Or ask a frien if you can borrow his/hers cleaner and buy resolve foam cleaner.(buy a spray bottle of resolve to have on hand in case of spills). This will save you money in the long run.
Or , buy a bissell carpet cleaner, we bought the best one that they had over 3 years ago and it it awesome. Send in warranty if you purchase one.I use mine as soon as winter is over to get ready for spring,and again somewhere before fall and winter i clean them again.I dipise filthy carpets.

Vanish carpet foam always works for me. Spray on a goodly amount, leave for a couple of minutes and then wipe away (use a damp cloth and work in circles from the outside)
