you can't.... brothers are hard headed and will not listen.... i have an older and younger brother and they are both slobs, growing up, i helped inside they helped outside.... So I just made their work hard on them.... after bagging leaves, i'd slit the bag and they woul have to rebag.... just dirty tricks to get even with them..... Now their wives can deal with them....LOL

You can't. It's something they have to do on their own. How old are they? Anywhere over 8 and it's probably a lost cause. I tried to get my youngest son to pick up after himself by giving him one week to clean up his room. At the end of the week, anything on the floor was going in the trash. He didn't believe me. A lot of clothes went in the garbage. I mean a lot. When he complained about not having anything to wear, he got outfitted at Salvation Army. He kept his room relatively clean after that. I know you can't do that since it's just a brother, but do not clean up after them. Let them wallow in their own mess.

Good idea to throw it away. Get a basket or something and put a clean garbage bag in it and use it just to throw their stuff in. When they see you throw their stuff in it or ask where their stuff went tell them you threw it in the garbage cause you thought they didn't want it. They will be mad and take their stuff back (assure them it is still OK cause you hadn't thrown anything nasty in...YET) and tell them that you will keep doing it whenever you find their stuff on the floor. Tell your parents your plan so they can go along with it and when your bro's protest they can say they gave you the job of keeping stuff off the floor and everything cleaned up.
Ask you mom to take away privileges if they don't. You don't do it for them either.
