First of all you don't ask them to do anything. Most housekeepers want to do the least amount of work possible. You need to have a list of everything that you want done and give her the list daily. After the day is over you need to inspect the work to make sure it meets your standards, or tell her how you want it done in the future. I would ask what service the person offers, and her charges. You can negotiate from there. If they don't do the services you are looking for (for example: the laundry), then you need to keep looking
that is what i do for a living.... never ask them to clean up cat puke or the cat box absolutely no way... and if you want them to do something make sure you are willing to pay for it... general cleaning is vacuum, dust, mop, make beds and some laundry most other things become extra for extra pay....
pick up, dust, vacuum, wash windows if needed, wash dishes, bring in the mail, laundry, make beds , clean shower, tub and toilet,sink etc. change lightbulbs that go out, and so on.
