How do I get starch out of an old pair of Vintage blue jeans. They are "cowboy" starched and are stiff as a board.

soak them in fabric softner. Use a larger ratio of softner in the water than recommended. Let soak overnight.

Put jeans in washer by themselves, set on a large or extra large load - let them soak overnight. Occasionally let them agitate to loosen up the starch. Drain them & then wash them w/detergent. Repeat if necessary.
