How to remove mildew from clothes?
Answers:
1. Take the mildewy clothing outside and brush off any loose mold growth. (You don't want those spores floating around your house.)
2. Leave fabric in the sun to dry out - heat and sun kill mildew.
3. Presoak remaining stains in cold water, then wash in hot water with detergent. Allow to dry in the sun.
4. If stains still persist, sponge the area with diluted chlorine bleach (use 2 tbsp. bleach to 1 qt. water). After about 10 minutes, rinse.
5. Launder as usual, rinse and allow to dry in the sun.

Step three... If you listened to me, then your an idiot.
wash it is cold water (hot water will promote the mold to grow)

sunlight to dry the clothes is very important.and cold water wash!
don't forget about the sunlight..if you dry it in the dryer it will not kill the mold
Household ammonia kills mildew on almost anything, and can be used almost everywhere, clothes, carpets, floors, wood. Dry in the sun, NOT the dryer! Bleach removes the mildew AFTER you've killed it with ammonia. Do NOT wash in hot water OR dry in a dryer UNTIL the stain is gone, because that will set the stain forever. If the item CAN'T be bleached, you might try other cleaners such as color-safe bleach, borax, Oxy-Clean - but I've had very limited success removing mildew stains without chlorine bleach. And I must say... beige pants are not likely to survive a regular bleaching - they'll turn a very unattractive, faded, almost peach shade. Try the ammonia, even if you need to do it 2 or 3 times - and scrub the stain with an old toothbrush and some borax or baking soda.
I have removed mildew stains from laundry with a very mild bleach solution (approx. 1 tblsp. bleach per 1 gal. water). Use VERY hot water, and emerse the entire mildewed area. You MAY need to soak over night.
If this does not work, try X14 mildew stain remover. If you use this, be sure to fill your washer with cold water before you spray your laundry with it. Once sprayed you can watch the mildew disappear before your very eyes. As soon as it is gone, dunk the clothes in the cold water, and wash as you would normally. CAUTION: The color MAY be removed from SOME laundry if you try this method. Try on an inconspicious area first. However, if the item is mildewed it may already be pretty much ruined anyway.
