Do those spikey balls you use in the dryer really work?

They are the size of a tennis ball, and look rather like a dog toy only hard. Supposedly you don't need fabric softener if you put these in the dryer with your clothesd each cycle.

Answers:
They do absolutely nothing for drying clothes. These have been tested time and again by 20/20, Prime Time Live, and Dateline and never, not once have they worked to reduce static cling. They do help you lose weight however--after you buy one your wallet weighs less.

Other answers:
No.
No.
we have smaller ones the size of table tennis (ping pong) balls...

they just get stuck in the clothes... really annoying

i can see how they could work...

they are suppose to agitate the water so the soap and water can move more freely therefore your clothes are cleaner...

i just find them annoying.
how do you get just the balls in there and not the rest of him?
