What is a homemade cleaning solution that will make the house smell good?

GrapeFRUIT seed extract is a product available at health food stores that will make any other product you buy a powerful anti bacterial, anti microbial, anti fungal disinfectant that is also food safe and ok for almost all surfaces. It also has medicinal properties when used internally but see the warnings on it, esp if you have heart problems and take certain medications.
GSE (see www.nutribiotic.com for more info) is available online and at most health food stores. It is not what you want based on scent but it will be an effective spray and wipe cleaner. Pick up an essential oil that you enjoy for scent. Some popular ones: peppermint, lemon, lavender. You could scent the product with anything else. Craft stores have soap and candle scents in popular smells, you could use your own perfume, etc. I wouldn't use anything out of the kitchen because you don't know what it will leave behind, such as vanilla, or even baking soda.
If it were me, I would use a gallon of distilled water to make a large batch at a time, then add it to an empty spray bottle. Follow directions for adding GSE (also how to use) and then scent as light or heavy as you like. You can also make a scent only spray, just eliminate the GSE and spray around after you have cleaned.
Regarding baking soda you can eliminate odors by sprinkling on carpets and upholstery and then vacuuming it out.
Vinegar is a great cleaner, you can scent it. The scent of vinegar disappears after a while leaving the scent you added behind, and leaves your house deodorized and somewhat more sanitary than it was. May not be a good choice for fabrics. Does wonders on mineral buildup in the bathroom, and is a great food safe choice in the kitchen, or for kid areas where non-toxic products would be good.

You could also put some cinnamin sticks in some water on low on your stove. Smells very festive! You could do this while you are cleaning or whenever, but don't clean with it!!
A good commercial non toxic cleaner is Simple Green. I like the smell, it's a little like licorice. Most homemade cleaning solvents dont smell so hot, but you can use vinegar and water and add a couple drops of you favorite scented oil. Also try a little lavender oil in the vacuum cleaner bag. Smells great.
