We get that too, really annoying- get cavity wall insulation, make sure you ventilate the rooms by opening windows, don't dry clothes in the house, when cooking open windows. All the simple stuff!
Fix the roof or gutters outside.
Purchase a dehumidifer, we kept ours in our closet and it ran all the time, place it where ever but I will be shocked at how much water you will empty from the pan every few days. I couldn't believe it. The aren't that expensive and are probally at walmart, or some place like that. Well worth the money.
leather shoes and bags I put packets of silica inside or crumpled newspaper. I remove clothes from plastic covers after dry cleaning, I also let the clothes that are stored for a long time hang outside and put dehumidifiers inside the cabinets. For books, I wipe each one with dry cloth to remove molds and also flipping the pages.
You need to identify the source of the humid air that case the humidity in the first place, then tray to eliminate it, a good way to do that is to get air to circulate in and out from your room, so an exhaust fan on the window will do the job, or just tack a small fan and let it face the window and you got your self an exhaust fan, the best time to do that is in the early morning, at dawn if possible.
you need a dehumidifer. I would watch because mold can make you very sick and if you have a lot in your house you may want to call a professional out to remove it.
Try Damp Rid. You can find it anywhere, grocery stores, major discounters, etc.
Buy a dehumidifier and put it in the room
