If you can afford it, go for the Dyson. No kidding, that thing actually makes you want to vacuum!

Well, we have a Henry.
He works just fine, he's small, easy to get bags for, and of course he is always smiling (plus I can talk to him while doing the housework without feeling too crazy!)
I strongly recommend the Dyson, expense but well worth every penny. I've owned a Kirby, paid twice the price of my Dyson, but I much prefer the Dyson!
OMG I just bought a Dyson after throwing out another vacuum. I had a Hoover (motor blew) and a Bissell (just died) and both were junk, didn't last 2 years! I bought this Dyson just a few days ago and really love it! Hope this is a keeper..
I have been doing research myself and I have found that Panasonic is really good. I have used a Dyson.....too confusing and I don't like bagless. Kenmore is also a good one. Stay away from Oreck. Hope this helps
Many people think Kirby, Electrolux, and Rainbow are the best vacuums, but they are very expensive. No matter what brand of vacuum you decide to buy, the cheapest place to buy one is at an estate auction. It seems as though every estate auction has at least one vacuum for sale. I have seen vacuums , uncluding the abovementioned, that sold new for over $700.00, sell at auction for under $30.00.
The contents of auctions are usually listed in your local newspaper. Many auctioneers maintain websites with expanded descriptions and pictures of the contents of upcoming auctions.
When buying at auction, make sure that all of the attachments are sold with the vacuum. If they are missing, you can bet that they are in some "box of junk" that will sell for a dollar or two.
Good luck with your search for a vacuum.
spend big money and get a good one. the bissell with the easy empty dirt container works for me.
