after washing my towels they still dont smell clean. I use det. and oxy clean and they smell musty..any ideas?
Answers:
wash towels in hot water with full cup of detergent and color safe bleach (if towels are colored; regular bleach if white towels) and make sure washer isn't overloaded. if you have too many towels in the load, they can't agitate properly and therefore they don't get clean. also never leave them in the washer for very long after the washer stops. when removing them from washer be sure to shake out before putting in them in the dryer.

Bleach... Color safe bleach...
spray it with febreeze
Pour a bit of lysol next time to smell a difference. :)
Get some new ones and stop letting them get that musty.
Sometimes during hot weather they will smell bad if you leave them in the washer too long before putting them in the dryer. Fabric softener will help too.
fabric softener
Put a half cup of baking soda in the washer with the towels. Wash in hot water and hang out to dry.
Lysol has this brown condensed bottle of disinfectant that works really well. You just add it to your load of laundry and it strips your clothing of odors. We used this on my dad's old work clothes.
Try an in-line water filter, may be the water. The water here makes the ice cubes smell like garlic, I have water filters on all incoming water lines.
I use Tide with Downy softner in it and all the clothes come out smelling really nice and clean. Try it.
Its your washer. Just run your washer with 4 cups of bleach that should take care of it. Do the rest of your clothes smell musty? If not fill your washer with your water and put in 2 cups of clorox dont worry about the colors they are towels.
I suggest checking the water lines to make sure that you don't have mold, especially if you don't use it often.
get some Downy fabric softener with Febreze it coms in a purple bottle.u can get it at walmart
Add a cup of white vinegar to final rinse. Maybe you should rinse twice. Vinegar not only removes the detergent but also softens clothes as well as fabric softener.
..try a dry bleach, that will kill the bacteria, that causes that musty smell
Try washing as hot as possible with color safe bleach and downy (which smells the best). Then line dry them in the sun (which can help eliminate odors, too).
if they are not really dry and I fold them and put them away , when I take one out it smells musty....i usually hang them after i take them out of the dryer to ensure they are dry
