How do I get my towels soft?
I live in Australia (for product info).
Answers:
its most likely your water. it could be hard which is having more minerals. you may install a water softener but a dryer will be about the same cost.
Other answers:
The ONLY way I know is in the tumble dryer. Any air dry and they are not soft.

I dont feel like reading that.
Take a hot shower and hang your towls up in the same room the steam will soften the fabric and also saves time ironing clothes
you can use fabric softner! try getting the smelly ones like
Lavender or something!
Add Downy to the rinse.
if you use a fabric softener it might help instead of a conditioner and if you do then don't use a fabric sheet in the dryer just use the softener, i am not sure what "fabric conditioner" is it might be the same as a "fabric softener"
Tumble dry with some snuggle dryer sheets. Also I recommend snuggle fabric softener as well.
I can only get them soft by using fabric conditioner and then drying them in tumble dryer, everytime i dry them outside they dry quite stiff. But that is actually better for soaking up water after a bath or shower.
A dryer Helps !!
On ya Mate ......
liquid fabric softener that you put in during the spin cycle...
try letting them soak in the rinse cycle with the softener.
You may have to add fabric softener to both the wash and the rinse. Or dry them for the last 10 minutes on the cool cycle.
fabric softener is the best stuff and smell great
I've actually used a wash cloth semi-soaked with liquid fabric softner tossed in my dryer with the rest of my clothes...sure makes everything smell nice and especially the wash cloth I use for this.
i always put in extra fabric softener...if line drying do this on a breezy day ...a day with no wind will cause them to be stiff...you can always plug a fan in outside to create air movement to make towels softer or after line drying put them in a dryer with no heat and allow to tumble for about 5 minutes to soften them up
Downy in the dryer is your answer.
