Why don't they make vaacuums that work anymore?

Obviously really well planned obsolecence? I sometimes think that it's almost better to spend 20 bucks on an electric broom and toss it when it no longer 'sucks' than to invest in something so pricey which gives you the same darn results!
Anyone have one of those H2O vaccums or what's the name of the one from overseas......I can't remember the darn name (although the commercial is running through my head!) Argh!

have u tried the Eureka bagless vaccumns? only problems i have with it is the clogging of the tub due to dog hair at my moms when i go to help her clean, and man those dogs do shed (so dont get that if u have very "sheddy" dogs. unless u dont mind cleaning out the trap areas alot, lol) other wise the clogging of the hose is the only problem ive had.

Mine works fine. I just changed the bag.
Spend a little extra $$$, and buy an Oreck. They never break. Usually when you buy a stand-up vacuum from them, they give you a free small one with a strap to wear over your shoulder and clean walls, drapes, hard to reach places. They are worth the money.
