How do you remove a mildew smell from a clothes steamer?

I have a clothes steamer which works great at removing wrinkles from my clothes, but lately there has been a mildew smell, which has been getting stronger w/time. I am concerned about infusing this smell into my clothes. I have thought about running some bleach through, but then worry about ruining my clothes w/ the bleach. Specifically, it is a steamer from the company "Home Touch." Any thoughts?

Answers:
White vinegar is the most effective cleaning and sanitizing tool in a household.. mixed with water and a drop of soap a great window cleaner,,
Mixed with water it will sanitize your steamer too.

Other answers:
vinegar and water- but you could also use bleach if you just run clean water through a few times after- maybe steam some of your whites - then some junk clothes before you do your good clothes - just to see if it is rinsed through well enough yet.

Run Vinegar through it. Let it run until all the water has evaporated. Run clean water through it a couple times, until it's evaporated to get rid of the mildew smell.
