Do you wash new clothes before the first time you wear them (especially undergarments)?
Answers:
I worked in retail and I suggest that you always wash before you wear. Between shipping, storage, and who has tried on the clothes before you. Better to be safe then sorry.
Other answers:
I almost always do. It depends on if hey have that "new clothes" smell.

Nope, probably should but I like the feel of "new".
Why is it necessary?
Undergarments for sure (never know where they have really been before they are on the shelf). Other than that it just depends, sometimes I need to quickly buy something for an event and I don't have time to dry clean it before wearing it.
Generally, yes.
yes, i always do cause u don't know if someone tried it on before u bought it. and u don't wont to caught anything.
i always especially like you said undergarments and anything that i buy for my baby
I always do. There may be production chemicals on them. And, you don't know who handled them before they got to your house.
Definitely yes. While undergarments are usually not tried on by other customers, it's been to so many places. Factories, lorries, boxes, and shelves. It's collecting dust and particles throughout the way and that might trigger allergy to its wearer. For that. it's advisable that you wash it first before you put on them.
Yes
Who knows where they've been and who handled them before you get them.
I always do
Underwear, definitely.
Other stuff, it depends. My friend in retail says that there is formaldehyde and other nasty stuff in clothes, so if I have time between purchase and need-to-wear, I will wash things. Some things itch if they aren't washed.
Absolutely!
I definitely do. First, they are at the manufacturing plant. Next, they proceed to the retail store were the employees apply price tags and move them from one rack to the next. Then, people may try them on, or kids with sticky fingers will touch them as they pass by.
You should. Reason being these clothes could have come into contact with various toxicins that could cause you to become itchy, to form a rash etc. You never know what fell into the box the garments where shipped in. I could tell you sooo many stories. I worked in retail for years and well, I have seen pink insulation in boxes, chalk, dirt, little critters etc. SO yeah wash them
I like brand new shirts and no I don't wash my undies first, I like the brand new feeling.
Actually, i've never done it or seen anyone done it (maybe that's because you don't look at other people's laundry) But then again, maybe we should. A friend of mine watched a show called Medical Investigation once, and vowed to wash her new clothes before wearing them. And even though i simply LOVE the smell of new clothes, i'll definitely do it. Especially after reading all the other comments before!
I problably should wash them first but i dont. In fact Ive even bought new clothes instead OF WASHING THEM!
yes! There are chemicals on them, and what else touches them in shipping or before they got hung up in the store. I think it is gross if you don't.
i always do. you don't know how many people put it on and it get the extra dyes out.
For Sure.
NEVER!!
