How do you get the black stuff off the bottom of your iron?

Answers:
For stainless steel iron bottoms, get a steel wool ball and put it on the ironing board and rub the HOT iron over and over it and voila! also for stainless steel bottoms, put a piece of bar soap in an old white sock and rub the hot IRON on it over and over - slick as an eel.

Other answers:
try getting the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser and soak it in a hot tub of water for a little while.

u can try vinegar and water that might help but if u burned the bottom you might not be able to get it off.
Turn your iron on and let it get hot. Once it's heated up, crumple up a large bit of tinfoil, wet the bottom of your iron, and scrub with the foil... that usually does the trick.
Take a wooden object and scrape it... preferably when hot

Or if you have old jeans, heat the Iron to the max, and then Iron it, The black stuff will get stuck to the Jeans.
Try using a little vinegar
I faced the same problem and this is what worked for me:

heat the iron, take a couple of tissue papers and start rubbing on the iron base, the black residue will slowly start coming off.

Take care, not to burn urself.

Cheers !!
