Make a paste of bicarbonate of soda and water, spread it on and leave for a while, then wipe off. Beats Cillit Bang any day.

Remove the shelves, remove the 'self cleaning' liners, then use Mr Muscle on the oven. For the shelves, get a shallow plastic trough( I use an underbed plastic storage drawer form DIY store) put shelves in the drawer, cover with water. Now, remove the shelves, add a pot of CAUSTIC SODA, mix well, put shelves in, leave overnight...wipe the burnt stuff off. WARNING.... READ THE DIRECTIONS ON CAUSTIC SODA> WEAR GLOVES AND GOGGLES> IT IS HIGHLY CORROSIVE>
Must be soda CRYSTALS - nothing touches this for removing grease and burned in yuck on your cooker - s trong solution mind you.
