Answers: The best and cheapest path to get rid of cat mane on furniture is with a rubber dish wash glove. Put it on and wipe the fabric surfaces, the quill will roll up nicely, remove tresses from glove and repeat & repeat & repeat.... Good luck.
you could get a 3M lint brush, for upholstery, they're wider than the regular ones.
another picking is to have the cushions drycleaned. only just remove the covers and send to the cleaners. as to the rest of the house: spare your self the drama and transport for a maid service, most will charge you $60 for an initial cleaning.
Lint rollers - the sticky kind for clothes - do wonders. A soaking sponge will also pull up the quill. It will gather contained by little clumps as you pull the sponge toward you or move the sponge surrounded by little circles.
Sarah is right about the sodden sponge. It really helps. and relatively inexpensive.
Static Guard could give support to. Spray and vacuum and repeat.
I've heard Bounty sheets do a appropriate trick on picking up animal hair and dust. Or a Swiffer dust cloth a pack for $4.99 at wherehouse stores.

Blue said exactly what I be going to. The rubber dishwashing gloves work splendidly. The grooves are deep satisfactory that the cat hairs will cling next to out any trouble.
A flame thrower comes to mind... :D
Slowly, bit by bit.
