How can I remove permanent ink from wooden table??
Answers:
If that word is glossy; light sand down with 180 grit sandpaper until marker is gone. Then use 220 and 440 follow-up. Dust off.Wipe down with wet cloth to remove remaining dust. Let air dry for a few hours. Re-coat with varnish in light coats until desired finish is achieved. Let dry in dust free environment as each coat dries. Sand with steel wool if finish is bumpy and re-coat until smooth. Before you consider doing this though. Sanding may take more than gloss off. Choose a stain color as sanding will go right to bare wood. Apply stain according to directions on container.
If the word is glassy. Rubbing alcohol and clean cloth.

Sometimes (in the case of a marker or Sharpie) you can make a mark over the old one and quickly wipe it off. Something to do with the chems. in the ink. Try a small spot before you strip the table and refinish it. There should be an easier way than that!
You have to be very careful when doing this. You can use non-acetone nail polish remover it will usually take the mark off. Use very little on a cotton ball and rub lightly then use a wet rag or sponge to clean off any left over remover.
Try hair spray or Lysol- the original lysol not Oust. I use lysol to remove Sharpie from CDs. It comes off instantly.
