Does anyone have any suggestions on cleaning a black gas stove top?
Answers:
This may sound silly but window cleaner actually works pretty well on it because it kills the bacteria and leaves it shiny, clean, and no scratches but u have to wipe it off softly.

Soft Scrub I think it is called. We get it at walmart to clean our electric glass top range.
Works perfectly, not a spot on it.

you can try to use steam. it will also sterileize it
We used a paint you can get at hardware stores called " Stove Paint" on our stove hood. It comes in matte or gloss spray, just for stoves.
If you need to spruce it up and just clean, then use what we have used for ages on cast iron, a little shortening and salt made into a paste removes rust from heated cast iron.
Hope this helps! Sounds pretty!
We had a white gas range in my last house and Formula 409 always got it clean and shiny. Orange Glow works really well too. They're both safe, gentle spray-on de-greasers, so they should take care of the spots. I guess it was shiniest with the Orange Glow. Smelled good too!
When I had to clean the round things above the burners, I would soak them in a tub of water with some of the degreaser, then scrub really good with a scrubbing pad. Rinse them really good and let them dry fully before returning them to the stovetop though.
heavy degreaser then dawn
I would recommend Colgate. It is a surprisingly good cleaning agent for most surfaces other than your teeth.
I am sitting here right now with easy off on my black stove top. I spray it on there and leave it for about 30 to 40 minutes then scrub it off with a wet wash cloth and some dish soap. Finally after it is all cleaned off, i put some windex on my stove and wipe it off with a paper towel. Tada! It looks great. The trick is to use windex or some other type window cleaner, not just something like multi surface cleaner. The windex makes it glossy shine.
Easy Off
After you clean it, spray it with Windex and polish it off with an absorbent paper towel. I clean houses and this is the one thing that I've found works. (-:
I also have a black stove top my husband buys a degreaser from the auto part store it is purple he uses it on ours and it works wonderful it just wipes clean and it is really fast.
aerosol spray oven cleaner--use the fume free stuff!
Don't use abrasives.
