How do you get mortar out of a carpet?

The carpet is plain and pale yellow and no amount of hoovering will get it out. I am scared to wet it as someone has told me it has a worst dying effect.

I'd call a professional cleaning company who will take responsibility if they make it worse - get that in writing. You may just have to cut out that part of carpet and patch with a square of the same stuff - assuming your pile will allow that. Good luck.
