Help toilet cleaning?
Answers:
Ask at the local hardware store what they have. What you are seeing is the results of hard water. It is most likely calcium and iron deposits. Chemicals won't hurt the porcelen, scraping will. CLR may take some off, but you may need something stronger. Hydrochloric acid works and is available from pool supplies, but causes irritating fumes. I would try liquid Draino, about a quart added to 2 gallons of water. Put some in the tank and bowl and allow to stand 8 -12 hours. then flush with water. Wear rubber gloves and safety glasses while using. DO NOT mix cleaning solutions like Ammonia and Clorox. The results of mixing can be leathal!

One thing you might try is to drain the commode by turning off the water supply and then flushing it. Then try using LimeAway on it.

I'd try some Lime-A-Way or CLR. You may even have to dump half or all of the bottle in there and let it soak for awhile. I've used Lime-A-Way on the inside tank where all that crud builds up and it turned it completely white again!
You can use the harshes chemicals and let them sit over night with the lid closed. But you will probably have to replace toilet, the long term stains are water stains that won't come out of porsolen
BLEACH!
i have been in the cleaning business for over 20 years and the best thing that works is pumice stone. they sell it ace hardware
Elbow grease connected to a pumice stone or a piece of gray wet or dry sand paper and a gritty cleaner. Once it is clean pour some clorox in the back of the toilet to kill the gunk in there. Never use a grit cleaner with clorox, it makes a toxic gas. Hope this helps.
drain it and use "commercial strength" Tilex.
