How do you clean marks and stains on a microfiber couch??
Answers:
From the San Francisco Gate:
If it has a tag, which some manufacturers use as part of a voluntary uniform standard for cleaning developed by an industry committee, it will be marked with a code to indicate the appropriate cleaning method. The codes are:
"W -- Use water-based cleaner. Spot-clean this fabric with the foam only of a water-based cleaning agent such as a mild detergent or commercial upholstery shampoo.
"S -- Use solvent cleaner. Spot-clean this fabric with a mild, water- free dry-cleaning solvent from your local grocery store or home store. Use sparingly, in a room with the windows or doors wide open.
"S-W -- Use water-based or solvent cleaner. Spot-clean this fabric with a dry-cleaning solvent, mild detergent foam or upholstery shampoo.
"X -- Vacuum only. Clean this fabric only by vacuuming or light brushing to prevent accumulation of dust and grime. Water-based foam or solvent-based cleaning agents of any kind may cause excessive shrinking, fading or spotting."
If you don't have a label, I can help -- I, too, just brought home a microfiber couch. The Wonder sponge would work, well, wonders on your microfiber couch.
You should also vacuum at least once a month. Wipe up spills immediately. Dab, don't rub, stains with absorbent paper towels or a soft white cloth. Blast tough stains with mild soapsuds dabbed on with a sponge or a dry- cleaning product if tagged as safe. Dry with a hair dryer. (End of article)
Just a quick browse online yielded the following solvents for microfiber couches:
Neutrogena soap (not the anti-acne stuff :-)
K2R Spotlifter
Blue Coral Dri Clean Carpet & Upholstery Cleaner
Some Guardsman product for removing ink stains (Organic Stain Lifter?)
Do NOT use tap water (especially HARD water - booo hard water!) as it contains minerals that will leave stains on the fabric. Use distilled water!
Someone also asked this same question on the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier and got this answer:
Use a water-free, dry cleaning solvent. You may have to repeat the procedure until the stain is gone. Dry quickly with a fan when the stain is removed. Success will depend on the fabric.

Walmart carries a product called Cadie, Dry Cleaning Pad. It dry cleans surfaces you can't wash. Linen'n Things carries it too. I have used it to remove ink from silk pants, and dried paint from fabric. It is non-toxic and has no harmful chemicals.
