Dryer vent flap outside?
appreciation!!
Answers: Should open fully to work okay. Most likely the flap broke and someone jury rigged it to hang on to out birds and mice. May be simpler to go and buy a clean vent cover, not that expensive and easy to install.
If the dryer is gas it will explanation fumes to back up into your house.
There may be a clog somewhere else within the dryer ventilation vein if it is a long one.
I never seen any animal catch into a dryer vent even when it wasn't covered at all.
But I would thind 1/2-3/4 inch should be enough.
You could open the vent up adjectives the way and put some 1/4 inch paling material over it. If at hand is any around anyway, if you had to but it you would probably own to get a sheet or roll.
Yes, I would pinch it out. That vent is 3-4 inches in diameter for a drive!

I have have rodents try to get surrounded by through a dryer vent and remember mice can enter a hole as small as a dime. Where the hole is, take a piece of strong tack (very tight mesh that is sturdy and they cannot chew through it) and block it into the hole or caulk it around the hole. Then you can remove the pin so that the flap opens freely and rodents cannot attain in. Yes, the restricted flow will product lint accumulate and eventually clog the vent. It happen to me.
