hot water wash and high heat drying can shrink clothes. Some fibers are suceptable to heat and can be damaged if laundered wrong. Always check the wash instructions on the labels

When fabrics are woven, there are spaces (air pockets) in between the fibers. When you wash and dry clothing, the air pockets are removed and the fibers pull together causing your clothes to shrink.
Only organic fabrics shrink dearie,...cotton & silk.
If your clothes are getting tighter and tighter,... maybe its you that is getting bigger.
The exception is that some clothes are stretchy, and are supposed to fit snuggly.
