Answers:
Sadly, you may find if the wax has dulled and clouded...the only way to get through that is to strip the old wax.

When I had my new Hardwood floor installed in my entryway, my carpet guy gave me the list of products which would be best to used on my various floor types. Call your local carpet store. I got the following from the "Designer Hardwood Floors" site.
Sweep or vacuum wood floors regularly to prevent sand and grit from wearing off the top coating, causing damage and discoloration to your hardwood floor
Never wet-mop a wood floor. Standing water can dull the finish, damage the wood and leave a discoloring residue.
Use Citra Sheen (or other water based citrus cleaners) to clean your floors. Citra Sheen is available in concentrate and ready made from Designer Hardwood Floors. Avoid using "self polishing" wax, such as Murphy's Oil Soap, Super Shine All and other products containing wax or oil. Once you wax a urethane finished floor, it is difficult to recoat the floor, as the new finish will not bind to the wax.
Wipe up food and other spills immediately with a dry or slightly dampened towel (wipe dry).
Install proper floor protectors on furniture to allow furniture to be moved easily without scuffing or scratching your hardwood floors.
Control humidity levels by use of a dehumidifier or humidifier. You may need to add portable units in some rooms.
Keep high heel shoes in good repair. Heels that have lost their protective cap, thus exposing the fastening nail, can dent your floor surface. Also, avoid wearing cleats on your hardwood floor.
Have your floors recoated periodically as the finish shows wear. The NWFA recommends recoating hardwood floors every 2-3 years. Many of the hardwood floor cleaners and wood floor cleaners on the market today contain toxins, oils and foreign elements that leave a heavy buildup on the floor and eat away the finish, which is why we recommend using only Citra Sheen cleaning products to maintain the luster and durability of your hardwood floors. Citra Sheen is specifically developed for hardwood floors and contains only ingredients that are proven to preserve and protect your floors, making the regular cleaning easier and the long term maintenance less costly.
Try vinegar and water, I have hard wood floors I take a bucket of vinegar and water a rag for cleaning then a dry rag for polishing and drying it keeps them shinning
Try cleaning them with vinegar water, don't use a mop this will leave too much water residue on the floor, it is a good old get down on your hands and knees job, I use a kitchen sponge and dip it in the vinegar and water solution and wring out well, and wipe up small areas at a time, then you can try a good coat of orange glo for hardwood floors, this can be purchased at Walmart and is about five or six bucks a bottle, and it leaves a nice shine on the floor...Good Luck
