How do you get candle wax off that melted onto a carpet?
Answers:
Place a white face cloth or towel over the hardened wax, and run a hot iron over it. The heat will melt the wax and the dry cloth will absorb it. I used this method on my carpet to get my damage deposit back. Worked like a charm!
Other answers:
iron a paper bag over it.
iron a paper bag over it.
I think a steam carpet cleaner that blows steam while it sucks would do the trick.
Hey, that ironing a paper bag thing sounds like it may work too.
use a warm iron and a clean towel over the wax..it will come out although it takes a little while
a warm iron and lots of paper towels and then snip the fibers to re fluff it
This might work, take a sheet of waxed paper and put it over the wax on the rug. Apply a medium hot iron over it, it should warm up the wax enough to stick to the wax paper and you can slowly pull the paper up. I hope this works. You might want to go to

Use an absorbant cloth and iron over it, make sure the iron is really hot.
place a towel, paper bag, or old t-shirt over the top of the stain and iron it. The heat will melt the wax and it will wick into the item over the stain. It may take 2-3 tries to get it all.
Fold a paper towel in half, put it over the wax, & iron the paper towel with a hot iron...the paper towel will soak up the melted wax. you may have repeat the process several times with a new paper towel.
Test this first in an inconspicuous area of the carpet --- Set your iron to a low heat setting. Place a paper towel or two over the wax and briefly apply the iron. The paper towel should soak up the melted wax.
Remove as much as you can and then take a brown paper bag and a warm iron...the bag will soak up most of the warmed wax. Do not touch the iron to the carpet, just the bag.
Keep a cube or cubes of ice to cover the full wax area, till the wax is hard & brittle, then break it off.Of course ,you can dry that area with hair dryer, after breaking off the wax.
A BARELY warm iron and a clean towel. Put the towel over the wax and run the iron over the spot until it pulls up.
Check out this eHow site for step-by-step instructions (similar to some above) on how to remove the wax, plus more information if the wax was colored. Also, there are 22 additional tips from other users on the site and links to other user sites. Good luck!
steam and a terrycloth towel
Get some old newspaper and a clothes iron. Heat up the iron, it does not have to be on the highest setting. Put three or four pieces of newspaper over the wax and run the iron over the newspaper. The heat will melt the wax and the newspaper will absorb the wax. Repeat the process as many times as necessary. It may take a while depending on the amount of wax that dripped on the carpet.
Personally, I used this method for a small amount of wax (4-5 square inches by an eight of an inch thick) and it took 15 minutes and a lot of newspaper (30 pages) to get the job done.
1- Remove excess wax carefully with a dull knife.
2- Place the stained area between paper towels & press w/a warm iron. Replace paper towels frequently to absorb more wax/crayon.
3- To remove any remaining stain, treat w/a specialty stain remover following manufacturer's recommendation.
Hi - my mum says you get some kichen roll, a teatowel (really thick) and an iron. Place the kitchen roll on wax first, then the teatowel on top of that to protect carpet then CAREFULLY iron the tea towel (on hot) The wax should melt and be absorbed into the kitchen roll! Might need a couple of goes until it's all out!
Good luck!
My best experience is to use ice. Place ice cubes directly onto the candle was. Shortly it will harden & then you can pick at it & it will flick off in pieces. If there is still some color of the wax left on the carpet, I have even taken scissors & given the carpet a tiny "hair cut" to get those ends off.
Place brown wrapping over on top off it and then iron the paper. Slowly peel off the paper and the wax will be stuck on it
Gently scape up as much as you can, then iron a paper bag over the wax. DON'T let the iron touch the carpet, IT WILL MELT!
Then clean the left over with Goo Gone or simular product or Murphy's oil soap. Wax leave a greasy looking spot even after it's gone, so use the Murphy's regardless. (I use it to spot-treat salad dressing and other oily stains on clothing.)
burn it till liquid again
Lay some newspaper or other paper over the wax.
Put your iron on a LOW TO MEDIUM heat, then rub it over the paper. The wax will melt & stick to the paper.
DO NOT PUT THE IRON ON HIGH!
Use either denatured alcohol or double rectified turpentine with a vacuum cleaner on 'hi' standing by.
Heat the wax so that it doesn't melt but is just warm (try not to use a candle). This should lossen up the candle wax so that it is able to move a little more freely. If it cannot make it hotter ( do not set the carpet on fire). Than put a bucket of hot hot hot hot water onto the wax to make it easier for the carppet to "slip out" of the wax. Than use a strong common house comb to comb the wax out (make sure it's not your comb).
use sugar paper! you know the stuff kids draw on (coloured cheap paper?) then use iron to slowly melt it with the sugar paper layered in 1/2 layers then iron slowly moving paper you will see paper absorbing wax. this is what we used on my textiles degree when removing wax from fabric after doing batik painting with wax. i got wax on my landlords carpet and i ironed that with paper and warm iron and it came stright off and he never noticed! only one warning if you have really cheap carpets in your house wike the waxy back ones do not iron or heat as it will melt the carpet! if its a good quality carpet it will not affect it...
apply just enough heat to melt the wax but not the carpet
I stumbled in to it one day while filling up my zipper lighter, and it spilled on my table that had tape markings on it . When I wiped it off, it seems to removed the tape marking. So I started experimenting with any hard to get rid of things on the surface. Lighter fluid would be the best for the job, provided you don't light it with fire. I woud not not advice you using on painted surface either, because if you scrub hard enough it will eventually remove the paint. Try it, even pen stain comes off, but you have to use a lot of it. Same with wax on the floor or carpet.
Place of about 5 or 6 paper towels over the spot. Use and iron set on high heat that will not scorch your carpet. Repeat using fresh paper towels until it has absorbed into the towels. If there is any residue left, spray with foaming bathroom cleaner, like Scrubbing Bubbles, and use a scrubbing brush to remove the remaining residue.
put a paper towel over it and iron it. It will stick to the paper towel.
GET A RAG PUT IT IN VERY HOT WATER FOR AN HOUR AND PUT IT ON THE WAX
