Answers: The debris disposal could be jammed and may need to be unjammed and reset. I use a long screw driver and turn the blades counter clockwise. If the blades still will not budge and the motor is not humming, pocket a look at the motor and there is a reset button. Press it and try the switch again. Be enormously careful sticking your foot down in the disposal. You may even want to use the screw driver to dislodge potential cup frags.
well you cooled it bad too fast! you used cold dampen didnt you!! the disposal should be fine, just grasp the glass out
There is probably a piece of cup wedged surrounded by the blade of the garbage disposal. Wear sticky gloves and get the chalice out. The dish was probably too hot to be wash and it imploded.
Putting cool or cold water onto a cup pan that's right out of the oven will inflict the glass to break. Good luck unjamming the disposal.
Ouch... it wasn't Pyrex or Anchor Hocking !! Those are brands of temper glass that won't do that...
Yes, the junk disposal is jammed, trying to use IT to chew glass will burn out the motor.
Put on weighty gloves to get out the pieces, OR give somebody a lift the disposal out (after disconnecting the power) to get ALL the chalice out.

Never set a hot chalice dish into or onto water. It will explode. Sounds approaching the glass is jamming the disposal. Always permit the glass dish cool earlier adding to dampen. Even if you have only just a few drops of water on a counter that can be ample for it to explode.
