We have a set by Norotaki, or something approaching that, and my Mother in Law who know EVERYTHING insist that it be done by foot. I mean if you have an idea that about it, its not that habitually, and not that much, just surrounded by case.
I would NEVER put fine china surrounded by a dishwasher. It's not worth the risk.
I would definately recommend not putting your fine china in the dishwasher! Even if the china itself is 'dishwasher safe' the problem comes surrounded by when dishes clang against each other or the dividers within the washing contrivance they can easily chip. The best passageway to wash fine china is within warm river (not super hot!) with a calm dishsoap. Don't forget to pad the sink! If you drop a dish it can chip, or if they hit one another 2 may be chipped.

And don't consent to china soak in the dishwater, any...it can weaken it and make happen "water stains."
