I need to by a new washing machine. Are there any models that excel and what models should I aviod?

Go to your favorite store. Talk to a sales person. They need to know how many in the family? How many loads you run? Do you wash big items? The questions will determine what is the best for you. Heavy duty? Not heavy duty?

I prefer Whirlpool, top load and heavy duty. The front loaders can still leak. There are too many different models for anyone to tell you on a site like this. You have to go look at the options.

Also, inquire when the next big sale is??? One word of caution I can give you. You don't need all "bells and whistles". You pay a lot more for them and you will never use those settings. The majority of people use 1 or 2 settings and that's it...

I have top loader Maytag Neptune and love it. Consumer reports rate Whirlpool Gold good for conventional top loaders. Also Whirlpool (LSW9700P(q). High efficiency top loader which I have are all rated very good. Whirlpool Calypso,and GE Profile Harmony. Front loaders are rated good but cost alot more. Top rated front loaders are Kenmore Elite and Whirlpool Duet. It depends on how many loads you wash in a week. Conventional top loaders are best for adequate washing.High efficiency top loaders are best for those who want a top loader's easier loading with better washing and energy efficiency. Front Loading washers are best for those who want Maximum washing performance and top energy efficiency overall.
