Why don't people use shop vacs at home?
Why do people prefer paying more for vacuum cleaners, when they can use this great one for a fraction of the cost?
Just curious...
Answers:
You need additional insurance coverage to use a Shop Vac at home.
Home Insurers Ltd. Sec 55(A) Cap iv.
Sorry, just kidding.

I LOVE Shop Vacs!
Kudos to you my friend, kudos to you!
Yes, vacuums are way overpriced and advertised beyond reason.
And wet vacs, with the right filter, are good for many things.
But an upright, with a beater bar, is the best ever for carpets.
In a word...NOISE.
i do use a shop vac
i never really thought of that. i keep mine in the garage for use on the car and for any slight flooding that may occur in the basement, but it never occurred to me to use it in my house.
A shop vac doesn't remove all the dust,
so in the long run it is less efficient.
i do like them for wet use.
a lot less expensive than a wet dry vacuum
I just know that WalMart carries cool nacklaces lol. For so much less..
As for the vacs. I bought an expensive one and I'm not too happy with it.
They do not filter dust that well, they are designed for larger particles (sawdust, metal shavings, etc.)
I agree. I think a shop vac picks up much better and is easier to empty--no bags to fool with!
Are you kidding? I use mine all the time. Its great. But, to get pet hair out of carpet, I shop vac first, vacuum cleaner second.
hhhhmmmm i never thought of using a shop vac in my home.....
Shop Vac does not have a rotating brush attachment
mainly cause they are big and bulky, and hard to do stairs
Shop Vacs are great for their intended purpose, but that is not for everyday house cleaning. Primarily because they have no filtration to keep dust and dirt from venting back into your house while you're vacuuming. You're simply relocating the dust.
I have one too, it is only used for big jobs like saw dust, hot water tank leaks, etc...
if I just need to vacuum the carpet, a regular vacuum works best. I can't see lugging that big thing up and down the stairs and around the house when I could just use my little up-right, push it around and be done.
Because the do not filter as good as a regular house vac and they are also hard to pull around the house and up the stairs and they are alot noiser. I love the shop vac for cleaning out the cars and the garage though and also they are good if you have a big spill over from water they really come in handy!
We've got three vacuums;a shop vac(Shop-Vac brand), Eureka Boss and a Miele Flamenco(German made and engineered- the best of them all!) The shop vac is mid-size; 3.5HP, 8gal. and it gets used for everything! Water, sawdust, ect.
The Miele is used for its power and silence- a good brand for you to try!
The Eureka is for the cars; small and light- basically an 8lb loaf of bread!
