Tips on Carpet Cleaners?

Does anyone have any tips on carpet cleaners? I am looking to buy one for light duty use around my house. I don't want to have to rent that one from the store every time I have a spot that needs to be cleaned.

We had one that worked terrible-it just cleaned little lines in the carpet. So I want to avoid that again.

Anyone have one that works great?

I bought a Hoover spin-brush carpet cleaner and it is absolutely one of my best investments yet! I'd pick Hoover brands over the Eureka or Bissel because i have tried all three and Hoover actually dries any remaining wetness on my carpet when you don't have the spray button on. A little more expensive but worth every penny to me!

I have he Bissell Quicksteamer. It is a mini-versoin of the bigger Bissell. I have had it for 3 years now and it has cleaned up everything from cat poop to kid poop. The kids get my carpet so dirty with milk and applejuice. It is a great spot cleaner. But, if you have more heavy duty spots like ground in mud, you might want to consider the big Bissell cleaner. Get on Amazon.com and see what others have said about particular brands.
Spot shot works great for small spots. Also white vinegar mixed with warm water. And for really quick spots try using a baby wipe they really work great.
